CAN continues vetting hundreds of exceptionally qualified candidates for the 2016-2017 CAN Advisory Board. Thank you all so very much for your applications and nominations to join The Community Association Network. The response is overwhelming and appreciated. We continue to welcome new Board member applications through June 15, 2016.
The tremendous response inspires us to comment on why folks serve on any volunteer Board.
First, serving on a Board or Committee is an excellent way to have a meaningful and ongoing impact in your community, helping to preserve property values and quality of life for owners and residents. You become part of a team collaborating on ideas and strategies to make lasting improvements. Second, serving on a Board promotes learning. Best practices on security, budgets, collections, building improvements, community quality of life and excellent and not-so-excellent vendors.
With that in mind, we are currently reviewing new CAN Advisory Board nominations and applications. If you have interest, we ask and encourage you apply. The CAN Advisory Board provides CAN with critical perspectives on needed or proposed legislation that affects the day-to-day residential/ownership rights in common interest communities. CAN Advisory Board candidates should have experience in a variety of areas, including advocacy, community association living, community association management, insurance, emergency preparedness, and construction. CAN Advisory Board Applicants must currently be actively involved in community association living. Candidates should understand that CAN is a nonprofit, non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated to protecting those living and serving shared ownership communities.
If you would like to be a part of one of the most prominent community advocacy organizations in the country, submit your CAN Advisory Board Application. For those who have already applied, please feel free to supplement your application online to add to the materials already received. In addition to the online application, you can also email us your Curriculum Vitae or nomination to agarfinkel@LoveGWlaw.com or snail mail your Curriculum Vitae or nomination to our attention at 300 North Maitland Ave., Maitland, FL 32751.
We are accepting applications until June 15, 2016. The 2016-2017 CAN Advisory Board will be announced by July 15, 2016.
Thank you to all of the leaders and professionals who have applied for the CAN Advisory Board, and for those who have entertained the idea of running/applying for your community’s Board or Committee, please consider it once more. Volunteering to help lead nonprofit community associations is a wonderful way to contribute, learn, invest and grow.
Wishing you all a peaceful week and sending a big CAN thank you to the more than One Hundred Fifty Thousand (150,000) Board Members in Florida who serve their community association memberships.
No Board member or Board is perfect, but for the most part, those folks elected as Board members try to serve their communities conscientiously and admirably.
